African Lion Safari maintains the most successful breeding programme for Asian elephants in North America.

In November, 2005 African Lion Safari welcomed its ninth baby elephant, Opal. This birth is very significant for the park because Opal’s mother, Natasha, was born here in 1994. Opal represents the beginning of the park’s next generation of Asian elephants.

April 2006 was a very busy month as 2 baby elephants were born just 10 days apart. On April 13, 2006 Lily gave birth to baby Logan. 10 days later Kitty welcomed her third calf, Emily.
Currently all three calves are healthy and very active! Well over 1,000 pounds each, these youngsters play well together and enjoy days spent exploring the parks 750 acres.
